Confident Courage highlights the biblical story of a young Israelite shepherd named David who defends his father’s sheep with just his sling and stones. One day, he must face the fiercest enemy of his life, a Philistine warrior named Goliath, who stands almost 10 feet tall and is loaded with armor and weapons. Through story, fun activities, step-by-step drawing, and thoughtful devotions, the story of David and Goliath comes alive and applicable to children.

The Book in the Making
Here are some of the many ink drawings I did for Confident Courage. Ink is one of my favorite ways to create illustrations. I enjoy creating books that young readers take part in with their own thoughts, ideas, and drawings. I believe that as children use their hands and minds together, deeper thinking results about the subject. I know it does for me.
A Vew Inside
During my research for Confident Courage, I found myself asking lots of questions that curious kids might ask too. What kind of armor did Saul and Goliath have? What kinds of weapons did the Israelites own compared to those of the Philistines? What are some interesting facts about ancient shepherding? What kind of ancient musical instruments might David have played? Kids will discover the answers to these questions and more.
